What You Should Know About Franchising Opportunities

When it comes to Scottsdale Arizona franchising opportunities, there are some things you should know. Before you enter into any contract with any Scottsdale Arizona business, weigh your pros and cons.

The Pros

When you invest into a Scottsdale Arizona business you will be the owner of a company that is already established. The readymade business will come complete with management training, brand management, marketing campaigns, a solid reputation and a loyal consumer group. You will not be responsible for any sales or marketing and your sole responsibility will be to manage the business as the owner.

The Cons

The downside to investing into a Scottsdale Arizona franchise is there are sometimes high costs involved to start. Depending on the Scottsdale Arizona business you select to invest in your initial investment could be anywhere from just a few thousand dollars to upwards or a few hundred thousand dollars. You are basically paying for brand popularity and stability; the more you pay the more you expect to gain on your investment as a return.

Since you will not have any control over the Scottsdale Arizona business where pricing, branding or marketing are concerned you are putting your trust in the franchisor to ensure that no mistakes are made.

Signing that contract will legally bind you to the company and you will be responsible for any fees due as well as not get your investment returned if they decide to terminate the contract due to infractions on your end, even if they are small ones.

Why Buy A Franchise?

Many entrepreneurs are buying into Scottsdale Arizona franchises, but why? It is never a good idea to just follow the crowd, do your homework and find out if a Scottsdale Arizona franchise is right for you or not before you sign that contract. Take into consideration that you will be getting a readymade business. This means that you will be given management training, all proprietary tools and methods laid out for you and any marketing or sales campaigns will be established by the Scottsdale Arizona franchisor.

If you want the control of your Scottsdale Arizona business, buying into a franchise will not be a good match for you. The products you sell, the brands, the way you market or use sales tools will all be established by the Scottsdale Arizona franchisor, so you have little to no control. The more successful a business is, the more you can expect to pay for it, so keep that in mind when looking at startup costs.

You should understand that you will be paying either a flat rate or a percentage of your sales each year to the Scottsdale Arizona franchisor whether you are successful or not. You have to follow the guidelines given to you from the franchisor and stay within company rules and regulations while you are the owner of the franchise. It can be a huge relief to many business owners to not have to worry about marketing plans or sales tools or company branding, especially for beginners who know little about marketing a company.

Routinely backing up our important data is something we should all do.  Unfortunately, we don't realize this until we're scrambling to recover data on a hard drive that has just gone south.  Family photos, MP3s, that spreadsheet you've been doing for work--all gone.  You can avoid this traumatic experience by using the backup utility that comes with Windows.  This article outlines a few simple techniques you can use to make sure your computer data is safe.

The Better-Than-Nothing Backup Strategy

Get a CD burner and occasionally drag and drop your files onto a disk using the software that came with the device (Usually something like Roxio Easy CD Creator or Nero).  A flaw in this technique is that you will inevitably forget to do this, and before you realize it, it's been a year since your last backup.

If you're determined to be use this method, we suggest weekly backups as well as monthly backups, where you physically remove the backed up data from your home or office and store it at another location.  A house fire or other disaster could destroy both your PC and your backup sitting beside it on the desk.  So you'll increase your odds if you keep a monthly copy in a safe deposit box, at work, or at a family member's home.

Windows has a backup program ready to go on your system.  Navigate to START, PROGRAMS, ACCESSORIES, then SYSTEM TOOLS and you'll find the backup utility.  While older versions of this utility will differ slightly from XP Professional's, you'll be able to follow the Wizard when backing up.

You can backup the entire system, which isn't a great idea.  Windows and other programs can be reinstalled.  So you're probably better off keeping your data in a centralized location, such as your My Documents folder.  You can add folders within that directory by opening My Documents and right-clicking an empty space.  Name the new folders whatever you want and organize your data.  Then use the Windows backup utility to create a backup of your data.  Put this file on another hard drive, burn it to disk, or copy it over to another computer on your network.

Also, take a moment to schedule backups.  The Windows backup utility will give you a chance to schedule backups automatically. This is normally located under the Advanced tab at the end of the backup process.  Take a moment to set this up.
